When We Started this Consultancy…
…we did not imagine that we would be managing these sorts of investments.
Schaffer&Combs is presently managing philanthropic investments in an entire community health care system in a roadless region of Kenya. Among our investments is the sustainability and equipping of 550 community health workers and field officers.
Ugenya’s field workers have beautiful, tough, profound jobs. They scour the countryside on foot, on bicycles, in mud, rain, heat, dust. They monitor family’s water supplies, malaria prevention, and general health. They help administer drugs and make sure there is transport when someone needs to get to a doctor. They save thousands and thousands of lives every year.
They help bring people into this world, and they help people leave this world. Here, Thomas Sadimba helps Clion Opondo Odour, age 38, to die with some dignity. Without Sadimba, Clion would be alone. There isn’t enough food for the whole family, so his wife Josephina has left to rejoin her own family, where there is work, and food.
