We recently had the pleasure of working with the Board and staff of MISSSEY (Motivating, Inspiring, Supporting and Serving Sexually Exploited Youth) in a search for their next Executive Director. It was a challenging search for a particularly challenging position. Human trafficking creates a species of misery that mere words cannot capture. It is being increasingly called modern slavery, and it is a stain on our civilization. We were keenly aware of how much was at stake in this search, not just for the organization, but for the young people being exploited in our community every day.
In the course of this search, S&C reached deep into the professional ranks of anti-human trafficking networks across North America and spoke with hundreds of individuals in order to identify several outstanding candidates for the position.
After painstaking consideration among all concerned, Holly Joshi emerged as the next leader for MISSSEY. Her experience, strength, passion, poise, and deep commitment to this field stood out. Ms. Joshi previously served as the Chief of Staff for the Oakland Police Department. Prior to this post, Holly served as the Supervisor of OPD’s Child Exploitation Unit, and formed the city’s first joint trafficking task force with the FBI.
